Mixing Up Your Own Custom Nail Polish Shades with Nailtini Lacquer

When ‘Tini Beauty founder and lifelong cosmetic lover Michelle Toma Olson couldn’t find the perfect nail shade for her wedding, she decided to mix her own, and the idea behind Nailtini was born. “Cocktailing,” the beauty industry practice of combining multiple products to achieve a desired custom result, has never been easier!

Our ultimate “You Call It” Mixology kit puts you in the beauty bartender’s seat. Stocked with four empty 1/4 oz. bottles with mixing beads, caps and brushes, you can concoct custom nail colors with ease by mixing whatever you choose from your own collection. Now that’s a bespoke cocktail.

Our new Lacquer Cabinet subscription, which gets shipped once a month, not only features 3 beautiful limited-edition nail polish shades curated by top nail and beauty experts, but it also features two empty mini bottles for you to try your own hand at lacquer mixology for only $25 dollars and free shipping.  The cocktailing potential has never been more exciting!

Beauty Blogger and Lacquer Cabinet Mixologist, Faith Roxas, Shares Her Collection and Favorite Tips!

Yesterday we announced our new beauty subscription, Lacquer Cabinet by Nailtini. For our debut collection launching next month, we’ve teamed up with beauty blogger Faith Roxas of LoveRoxie.com, to unveil three beautiful limited-edition shades guaranteed to leave their wearer pretty in pink.

Hand-mixed by Faith, the February Lacquer Cabinet collection serves modern femininity with flair, featuring these perfectly-balanced shades inspired by love… and classic pink drinks:

  • Pink Clover Club – flirty, creamy petal pink with a hint of heat
  • Valentini – sophisticated, plum-kissed berry cream
  • Head over Heels – sassy fuchsia jelly brimming with multi-colored, multi-shaped glitter

 Lacquer Cabinet Subscribers will receive:

Three full size (0.5 oz) lacquers and two mini (0.25 oz) empty bottles so they can custom mix their own shades. Cruelty-free, vegan and 5-free: no formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, toulene, dibutyl phthalate or camphor. Made in the USA.

We recently sat down with Faith Roxas, the Lacquer Cabinet’s first-ever Mixologist to find out her favorite nail products, tips and predictions for the future. Here’s what she had to say!

Must have nail product?

My must have nail products are a glass file, cuticle remover, nipper & pusher, 4-way buffer and a base coat. I believe that a perfect manicure starts with the basics. Filing your nails is the easiest way to get the shape you want. And nobody wants an ugly-looking cuticles right? These products will give your nails a softer appearance. Also make sure to buff and polish your nails for a shiny finish. I never forget to use a base coat before applying a lacquer. It provides a smooth surface for your nail color and prevents your nails from staining.

Favorite Nailtini lacquer besides your collection?

My favorite Nailtini Lacquers are Bloody Mary, Sidecar and Frappe! I think every girl needs to have a classic red, nude and a dark color. If you can’t pick a color of the day, you can never go wrong with these shades. They are my go-to nail polishes!

Quickest and easiest nail art tip?

I would say French tip, glitter top coats and dots. If you want something classy, there are a lot of easy ways to do a French Manicure like putting scotch tape on the bottom half of your nails and then painting the part above the tape with white polish. Anything simple could be glamorous with a glitter top coat. If you want to go for a cute nail art, use a bobby pin to create dots in different sizes and colors.

Favorite and least favorite nail trends or innovations of 2013 (I.E. at-home gel

manicure, nail wraps, ‘caviar manicure’, oval shaped nail, etc.)

Different top coats/finishes/textures like matte, velvet, pixie dust, etc.

Ombre Nail Arts, Metallics, two-tones French Manicure

Least Favorites:

3D Nail Art, Crackles, Duck Feet Nails, Stiletto Nails

What trend/innovation do you think will be hot/would you like to see in 2014?

I would really love to see more pastel/soft colors for spring,

Bright/neon colors for summer, glitters, metallics and holographic nail polishes.

For a chance to win the February Lacquer Cabinet Collection featuring the shades shown above, show us your best Valentine’s Day or love-inspired nail art along with the hashtags, #MyNailtini and #LoveRoxie. Faith will choose and announce a winner at the beginning of next month. Good luck!

Nailtini Was Pretty in Pink at New York Fashion Week

We are still jumping for joy at the opportunity we had to participate in fashion designer Naomi Spindel’s Ready-To-Wear Spring 2014 show at New York Fashion Week.

Truly talented,  fashion up-and-comer Naomi Spindel honed her flare for fashion while working for designers such as Alexander Wang, Oscar de la Renta and Proenza Schouler to name a few. For her premiere show at Fashion Week she debuted a fun, and glamorous 10-look collection featuring  hot shorts, wrap tops and slipdresses in rich fabrics and stunning feminine shades.

Going with the glam feel of the show, renowned Manicurist Omary Gonell used Nailtini in Blushing Lady and Grenadine to create some equally as stunning nail looks which paired perfectly with the designer’s vision.

The final look was jaw-droppingly gorgeous! ImageImage

Same kit, different look:

Nail the caviar mani with tips from ‘Tini Beauty Bar Master/Founder, Michelle Toma Olson:

  • Have the beads ready for application with jar open.
  • Place your hand on top of a clean paper plate.
  • After applying a base coat and/or your chosen polish, liberally douse your nails with the micro beads. Sprinkle the beads over your nail(s) until they are completely covered.
  • Use the residual beads that fall off the nails for your second hand, or pour the rest back into the jar.
  • Carefully press down on each nail to ensure the caviar beads stick to the nail polish. Make sure you use a clean dry finger pad when pushing beads into the nail polish.
  • When nails are completely dry, add one coat of top coat nail to seal your nails.

Summer style … Ready, JET-SET, go!

Give your nails and your wardrobe a vacation from your ordinary shades and accessories this season. Color us crazy about the “Island Glam” trend recently featured in Glamour Magazine. Palm leaf prints and tropical flowers make great nail art.

If you can’t get away for a summer vaca, have a tropical stay-cation at home complete with fruity cocktails and pampering!

Many nail salons serve up drinks. One of our local faves here in Orange County, CA, is Cosi Fan Tutte Nail Lounge in Laguna Beach (550 S Coast Hwy Unit 5 – 6 | Laguna Beach, CA 92651), which offers clients champagne, wine, coffee, cookies, and other sweet treats while getting glammed up. Bring your girlfriends to a nail salon near you, sip on something sweet and don’t forget to bring your favorite #Nailtini shades to cocktail.

Ask your technician to recreate these tropical looks:
